In 1973 the Trust donated its first piece of equipment, a Broncho Scope, in 1973 and has since donated a further 81 items of equipment, including a laser and Gamma Comara, along with expertise at a total cost of £1,000,000.We work in partnership with The Primary Care Trust. We donate the capital for the equipment and they take care of the revenue implications and eventual replacement.
• In 1985, we set out to raise £1,000,000 to build and equip a Hospice to treat terminally ill cancer patients.
• In 1992 the Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust built and equipped the St. John’s Hospice, raising more than £2,000,000.
• In 2000 and with the support of the Doncaster Free Press, the Millennium Appeal was set up to raise funds in order to build an Information and Support Centre.
• 2004 saw the completion of Phase 2 on the Information & Support Centre which then became the St John’s Campus costing £1,500,000.
• 2006 saw the Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust returning to its roots by purchasing a further 3 pieces of equipment for the Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
The Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust will continue to raise funds for the support of cancer detection and the St. John’s Hospice Campus.
